The construction of a town plaza in downtown Coaldale is a project that includes two buildings: a concession and a Zamboni/ice plant facility, along with an ice rink, green spaces, and a parking lot.
The concession features both indoor and outdoor servery windows, a designated space for lacing up skates, and public washrooms. The buildings are equipped with exterior lighting to support evening events.
The ice rink serves a dual purpose—functioning as an event plaza during the summer, highlighted by subtle sandblasted patterns, and as a skating rink in the winter. The surrounding green spaces create a welcoming pathway to the rink while also bringing a natural element into the environment.
The Town of Coaldale envisioned a space for community gatherings close to the downtown core. This event plaza now serves as a central hub for year-round activities, including events such as Summer Fest and Night of Lights.
